During the 1950s Bud would take Triumph on its most winning streak. His desert racing mastery culminating in the 1954, 1957 and the 1959 Big Bear races, were victories that would earn him the name the Desert Fox. The 1955 Catalina Grand Prix class C and five ISDT solo gold medals would also fall to Bud whilst riding Triumph motorcycles. Countless wins in hare and hound desert races every weekend made for great dealer press. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday. The Triumph Johnson Motors Bud Ekins #1 Tee promotes the Los Angeles area dealership Bud ran during 1964 to 1970. This graphic portrays a large #1 showing the British Union Jack on the inside. Having the right to race with the #1 plate, meant being at the top, above everyone else at the end of a race season, an honor few get to know. Bud won the #1 plate several times, but only actually used it once, for one year. This is not something most people would shy away from, but he always preferred to use his lucky #32, which you'll find on the sleeve of this tee. The 100 cotton tee is made in the USA.
